Eye Tissue Donation Awareness Week

On the 21st – 25th of July, we’re hosting an Eye Tissue Donation Awareness Week in Aotearoa, a new awareness initiative from Organ Donation New Zealand (ODNZ) and The New Zealand National Eye Bank. The theme of the week is “Seeing the Opportunity”, emphasising the impact that one donation can make.

Over the course of Eye Tissue Donation Awareness Week, ODNZ will be hosting a range of events and materials including a webinar, case studies, some brand-new educational resources, and a workshop.

The week will conclude with a quiz, including a prize for the winning unit or individual.

  • Our Donor Coordinator Team Leader, Sue Garland, made an appearance on Waatea News, speaking with Dale Husband about organ and tissue donation and the unique challenges we face in Aotearoa. Give it a listen on their website here.
  • Maureen Watson, from the University of Auckland, joins us at ODNZ to give an introductory webinar on eye tissue donation. Watch the video here.
